ALL FUNDS RAISED HAVE BEEN DONATED TO THE HOSPITAL AUTHORITY IN HONG KONG

Hong Kong - Assicurazioni Generali, one of the largest global insurance providers, today announced that its Regional office and Hong Kong business have raised over HK$600,000 (US$77,000) through employee donations for the Hospital Authority (HA), a statutory body established to manage Hong Kong's public hospital services. The fundraising initiative forms part of Generali’s global Extraordinary International Fund which primarily assists local NGOs who are on the frontline of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The proceeds raised by Generali will be used to support the Hospital Authority’s efforts to combat COVID-19 to protect the health of the community.

Employees from Generali’s regional office in Asia and Hong Kong business contributed to the fund by donating a portion of their salary. Through their online annual leave system, employees who wanted to donate selected the number of annual leave days, for example, half, one, two days, or more, and the calculated cash equivalent has been donated to the HA.

Commenting on the donation Rob Leonardi, Regional Officer, Generali Asia said: “The purpose of The Extraordinary Fund is to provide an immediate pool of resources to help those in our community who have been directly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Being a Lifetime Partner to our customers includes supporting our local communities especially during times of uncertainty and our donation to the Hospital Authority is testament of our employee’s passion towards this ambition.”

Cillin O’Flynn, Chief Executive Officer of Generali Hong Kong said: “The COVID- 19 pandemic is both a global and local health and economic crisis. Generali Hong Kong is committed to serving the people of Hong Kong and critical to this is meeting the needs of our local community. As a ‘people-first’ organisation the Hospital Authority will convert our donation into initiatives that provide care and support for those in need and also ensure Hong Kong’s hospitals are well equipped to continue providing a high standard of healthcare services as always.”
